Halloween is not my favorite by any means, I think that the creepy and gory details are played up too much. But I enjoy the cute little things like pumpkins and fall colors, so thats what I chose to focus on for these decorating details. It's super simple halloween decor, but I had to share. The little things like changing decorations keep me sane in this tiny apartment.

My precious little niece turned one this weekend. I was able to make her gift with some fabric scraps. I made little bows that are ties in the center. It was a really easy pattern that I had in my head. I experimented with different colors, pattern shapes, and types of fabric.
Quickly I just wanted to share my latest personal project. I bought this framed plank from The Wood Connection back in April. I just got around to painting it up and decorating it last week. And I just love how it turned out!
Grace, Idaho is home to the Caribou County Fair. So for the past two years I've been able to help out with setting up, making decorations, collecting entries, etc for our little fair. It has been fun to participate in. This year the fair's theme was We've got a good thing growin' So I made these little felt fruits and veggies and put them in mason Jars so that they looked canned.
This was a birthday gift for my sweet momma that taught me to love sewing. I made this floral silhouette painting of an antique sewing machine for my her craft room.
It's been awhile since I posted anything. So I thought I'd share this little baby play quilt that I made recently for my little nephew that was born. I't like to start doing more DIY and process posts to encourage my friends and followers to continue crafting too.
Back in March, I worked with my sweet friend Kesia. She is launching KESWHAT her design company and lifestyle blog. So I contacted her right away to do a little collaboration. I needed a strong Logo and some business cards with my information on it to make things official, I knew she was my gal.
As the pretty blooms emerge from the ground and the leaves begin to bud from the trees we know that spring is upon us. And that means wedding season! I've had several friends get married in the last little while, so I've been painting a lot of these couples portraits. It's a simple, but meaningful gift, but not bulky so win win!
My great friend Celine contacted me back in early February inviting me to participate in a stylized photoshoot and wedding workshop that she was putting together. We talked a little bit for some brainstorming and color schemes then she sent me on my creative way.
For the next month I had been working on some really cool things. Sometimes I would have to craft in the car, so that i could stay up on schedule with all that I wanted to do for this. Its the first time that I could really share my work in a public setting (Facebook doesn't hardly count...) so I really wanted to make a good impression. Though not my typical colors to work with, I carefully designed around these moody yet elegant colors that were selected for the shoot: I think one reason I love to craft so much is that I see it as a problem solving challenge. I look at something that and think to myself, "I wonder how I would make that..." Then I if I want it bad enough, I convince myself to figure it out. For example. I have REAAAALLLLLYYYYY been wanting to get one of those vintage looking letter boards I have seen all over Instagram. They are so cute and provide a fun way to express yourself. Problem is- they are pretty pricy. So this is where my creativity kicks in. Could I just make one?
#FlashbackFriday to the my favorite holiday!
I'm really not entirely sure why but the 4th of July will always be my favorite. Something about red white and blue, fireworks, sitting in the grass, parades, family, summa time. THE BEST. Last summer I made this simple patriotic door decor for our little farmhouse. The flag is made from paint sticks. I also loved doing the little hand painted details on the burlap banner. Festive but simple.
This little wreath is what started it all. This spurred my new found love for all things felt. It is currently my favorite medium to work with! (See my other felt crafts: valentines banner and baby hairbands.)
Have a anniversary coming up soon? Want to give a simple but meaningful gift? Still need something for (late) Valentine's Day? Last February I started doing these simple watercolor couple's portraits. It does a lot to say "I love you" without the clutter of a teddy bear, and lasts longer than chocolate. These portraits can be painted as couples or as families. They are simple because I don't do faces. It is a great way to capture a special moment in your life; graduation, engagement, honeymoon, even a fun weekend as a group of friends. All I need is a picture of your group to reference. I can add titles or names upon request as well.
I have also begun to paint watercolor homes and temples. I gave one to my father for Christmas. It would be perfect as a gift after moving as memory of the good times that were had in the home. Love is in the air! I was ready for some color in our home again because these winter months can be so gloomy after Christmas. So rather than using the traditional pink and white for decoration, I threw some purple in the mix. On the pennant section that I sewed I did an ombré effect to gradate from light pink to purple. I used my multicolored felt collection (surprise, surprise) to make a chain of hearts. AND my new favorite part- I made felt balls out of wool! I obsess a little about this. It seems like no one knows were true felt comes from. It comes from wool and when wool fibers are warm, wet, and agitated they condense to make true felt. (Not the fake cheepo stuff from Walmart.) So I actually bought special needles, and like 50 colors of natural wool roving to make felt balls from scratch. I'm SO excited to use these felt balls for many of my future projects. It is a fun new medium to learn to work with. This Valentine's Day banner worked well for us as a backdrop for a cute Valentine's picture. (Heads up fellas- every lady wants a cute v-day pic with her sweetheart. You're welcome.) It could so be cute for posing behind little children too. Just spice up your place with this little pastel garland in the center of your home.
Thank me later XOXO. I have two perfect DIY gift ideas for runners. As my father was preparing to run a half marathon, I made him a "race survival kit". He loved this gift because not only were these things that he needed in his race preparation, but also he felt my support in a creative way. These were the things included in the shoebox: 1- Chocolate- because you “RUN for Chocolate” 2- Pasta- Time to Carb up 3- Band aids- "bye-bye blisters" 4- Nuts- You know you’re a little “nuts” to be doing this… 5- Sports drink- #Hydrate 6- Power bar- … for the last minute power you will need 7- toe clipper and cream- "Every step counts- take it one foot at a time" 8- race bib- (with inspirational quote) Later on, after his race, I made him a display board for his medals and bibs. It has hooks and clips to keep them all together, and a positive running quote. This gift keeps on being used! Now rather than keeping the race medals on a closet door handle he can display them proudly in his home office.
