I collaborated with @poppeevents and @allisonquistphoto on a stylized bridal photo shoot in May. It was supposed to have a really moody boho type feel to it. It is hard to see my contribution from the photos, but I did calligraphy. Keep reading to see what i made for the shoot. :)
I was invited to be a vendor in a little rexburg Pop-up shop. It happened the first week in June. I signed up for the event not because I wanted to sell anything, but because I really just wanted to use it as a networking opportunity. I enjoy meeting other creative people and sharing what I do.
My incredible friend McCall, from Poppie Events told me about this idea she had about a month ago. She told me about her dream to work with a bunch of different photographers and wedding vendors in the area. Well this weekend we made this a dream a reality. She had a vision and made it happen. And it was beautiful! Photographers in the south eastern Idaho area rotated through beautifully decorated scenes for a shoot out. They are all tagging the photos on instagram with the hashtag: #poppieeventsshootout
Photography is displayed at the end of the post. There were quite a few crafts that I was able to make over spring break. I had no responsibilities for a whole week between semesters so I spent allllll my time crafting. Wonderful right? A previous post talks about the paintings I did that week, but I also worked on a bunch of tings for the Poppie Events photoshoot in THIS post.
If there are any photographers in the area interested in a collaborative photoshoot with these pieces, contact me soon! I'll happily do a trade for photos. 💛 Just quickly sharing a few pieces that I was able to complete over my spring break. I had a lot of free time for crafting this last week, so stay tuned for some fun things I'll post about soon!
I've really been so blessed to know and work with other creative and talented individuals this month. I have more plans in place to continue the collaborative efforts and it just makes me giddy! I am thrilled at how this stylized wedding shoot turned out.
My sweet teacher ordered a special painting from me recently and it has a fun story that I wanted to share. So she and her family were sealed in the Hermosillo, Mexico LDS Temple. It was so hot out that they really weren't able to get any pictures of their special day together. I'm glad to be able to capture memories like this though my paintings.

I've been up and running this fun little business for a year now with paying customers. I thought I would describe a little bit about my creative design process. I'll illustrate this by discussing how I created this bridal shower invitation. My friend Veronica asked to make this invitation for a party that she's throwing in April. I start by asking my customers what they would like to have done and I ask for specifics. I gather details such as photos to reference and exact wording to be used... |
Sunflowers and Stitches is officially one year old! 💫
I thought I'd stop to share a little bit about myself. 💁🏼♀️ I’m Kristyn, I am studying Family and Consumer Science Education at BYUI, and I should graduate soon! Yay! 🎉 I started Sunflowers and Stitches because I needed a creative outlet that would provide a little bit of JOY for me, and inspiration for my followers. 🌻

I recently got a new camera, YAY! SO, I've been playing with the video capability to document my painting process. I sped it up to create a time lapse and it turned out so fun! This painting was created for the giveaway that I did in January. I hope to continue to paint more temples this year so that I can create an LDS temple calendar for 2019. My January giveaway winner asked for this painting and I love the way it turned out. In this painting I focused more on the development of color values rather than shape which was an interesting study for me. I also used my new camera to film part of the painting process. I made these back in August, but I just finally got to scanning them in. Now I can share them with you. I'm so happy with how they turned out! They currently hanging in a guest bedroom.
Just sharing a few of the Christmas orders I've received lately. I’ve loved doing these paintings for my sweet customers. I'm always glad to keep busy with creative Projects. See my Painting Portfolio for some ideas of what to order in the future- shop will open in January after the holidays. Possibilities on my watercolor paintings are endless. Please allow for some imperfections and artistic creativity in the hand made paintings. |
I thought I would share a little bit about this special order I just finished. It was the largest true watercolor that I've done yet. This was a perfect project for me because I LOVE maps! Not sure what it is about them, I'm just so intrigued with maps. haha
