From there I begin by creating something in photoshop. It is a very rough design so that I can decide placement and shape of things. Sometimes I'll gather additional inspiration from Pinterest and other artists. Once my "photoshop version" is ready I begin to sketch with light pencils (I use THESE) and a gummy eraser on watercolor paper. I try to duplicate what I've created in photoshop and sometimes I have to trace things. This prepares me for the next step. Then I begin to mix the paints to get my desired hues and begin painting. I lightly erase little sections at a time to add color. I move around the sketch adding paint, I usually start with lighter colors first then move to the darker tones. (See my youtube channel to see painting process videos.) Once dry, I use micron pens to outline the images and write any words. After that I make sure to scan in my art so that I can have my own copy of everything I create- plus then I have something clean to post on social media. From there I package up the painting and ship it out to my customer and follow up for payment. Sometimes I also offer a digital copy and allow the customer to purchase printing rights. It is pretty simple honestly, but I really enjoy this process. I've also revamped my packaging recently so I'm excited to ship out more artwork.
Thanks so much for supporting me in this! It has been so fun to be able to channel this creativity through my happy customers. If you have any questions about my creative process let me know. -Kristyn
