I've been wanting to learn how to make woven wall hangings so I did a little research. I found on Pinterest the basics of looms so I attempted to make my own with materials at the hardware store. My husband works at a hardware store so I was able to get the materials for only like $3. I spent $20 at Walmart to buy a bunch of cheap yarn and began playing. I've had a bunch pf people ask me how i learned to weave, but honestly I just was blessed to grow up around fabric discussions, and just figured it out. I drew on my experience of weaving hot pads from sock loops as a kid. I did have one class in college about textiles, which also inspired me to weave, but didn't teach me much for this situation. I just played around with different techniques. I completed a majority of this project while watching general conference, which is our TV church that happens like 2x a year. I always seem to listen better when I have a quiet project for my hands. I'm fairly pleased with the result. I didn't follow a pattern or anything, but it is smaller at the top than it started at the bottom, so there is room for improvement. It was something fun to learn to do!
